Hop you all had an amazing christmas and santa brought you all the lovely goodies you were hoping for! New Year celebrations are only a couple of days away, I can’t believe how fast it has all come around!
Today I wanted to do a review on the Garnier Body Intensive 7 Days Hydrating Lotion. A statement like ‘7 Day Hydrating Lotion’ is quite a statement to make, so I believe it’s quite important that these kinds of products are reviewed, so people know whether it lives up to it’s name or not. So my experience with this product went like this…
When I bought it, I didn’t typically read the back, as I don’t think most people would, a lotion is quite simply a lotion, it doesn’t get much more exciting than that. So I didn’t really think to much about reading the back of it for this one either. 7 days is 7 days right?
So after my first use (after morning shower and evening shower), yes my skin felt hydrated, but it wasn’t until after I had got over the painfully perfumed smell of it and how much it stung my dry skin (not good). All things considered, I figured that’s my skin sorted for the next 7 days, let see what happens from now onwards. Wondering would my skin really feel lovely and moisturised for that length of time without touching any?!
When you put into perspective what your skin goes through; exfoliating, shaving, cold weather, warm weather, sweating, clothes, bed, animals, scrubbing in the shower, scratching, just to name a few things we all do every day. How can it be possible that 1 lotion can cover 7 days of that and your skin actually be soft, hydrated and moisturised? I wasn’t sure this product was at all realistic but I kept going anyway.
After 7 days my skin was as dry as before, not moisturised in the slightest. So I finally (with regret) read the back. Apparently it works only when:
** Twice daily application for 4 weeks, consumer tested on 51 subjects for 5 weeks
*** 24 Hour hydration instrumental test on 24 subjects
Recommendation of use: Don’t apply on the face
So in regards to the above which was surprisingly hiding in tiny letters at the bottom of the bottle, it’s a bit of a cheeky statement on the front of the bottle. So yes, it does hydrate your skin for 7 days, but only after using it like a normal lotion twice a day for 4 weeks and the statement about 24 hour hydration makes you question the products efficiency.
It also concerns me highly what is in the product as it is advised you do not apply it to your face, although it doesn’t smell like something you would really want on your face any how. It’s too strong and smells like it would do more harm than good on skin as delicate as the skin on your face.
When I originally bought this product – which has been sitting in my cupboard for a good couple of years now, it was about £5-7 if I remember correctly. It is now on sale for £1.99 in Tesco. Considering the huge price drop, I don’t believe for one minute I am the only person to find this product as one with a bit of cheek and a big fat sneaky comment on the front of the product which makes people really intrigued. I don’t believe companies should entice people in such a way, it should be honesty at it’s best when it comes down to cosmetics and skin care – as everyone is looking for the best but can’t always pay the prices. So it’s nice to see a drug store equivalent, as long as it actually works like it says it will.
I know I have been a bit brutal with this review, but as I said it really did not seem to do the trick.
In case you were wondering, I did in fact carry on for 6 weeks with the product, much to my disapproval, after reading the back. To see if it would prove me wrong. It didn’t. My skin was no different, no more improved and no more hydrated looking than before. even with 2 weeks more use than stated on the bottle. I more than happily went back to using my original moisturiser once a day and with in a week my skin was back to looking healthy and hydrated.
So in my opinion – this is one to walk past. Which is a real shame – I’m so lazy so not having to moisturise my skin for 7 days would be a dream!
Hope you found this helpful guys, if you’ve tried it, what did you think?
Well hello there my darlings!!
I purchased this a little while back and I seriously questioned why I hadn’t done a review on it already. It’s one of those products you just NEED to get off your chest.
I suffer from quite strongly blemished skin, mainly because I had pretty bad acne when I was younger and your skin does become a concealer drainer if you don’t do anything about it. To make that worse, good concealer isn’t cheap! I was in search of a serum to help reduce redness and blemishes so that on days when I wanted to give the face a break from the mass of make up, it wouldn’t be such a concious thing to do.
I had done a bit of research and also tried out a highly recommended one by MAC – Prep + Prime Natural Radiance. This product is a primer which has the same effects as a blemish reducing serum. Don’t get me wrong this product was amazing, but it’s £29.50 a go and I ain’t no millionaire!! I needed a drug store duplicate that would cost less, last as long and work just as well…
Introducing No 7’s Beautiful Skin Blemish Defence Serum (and the angels sing)
This little beauty is only £16 and get this, it’s lasted me even longer than the MAC primer! This product is phenomenal, after a week of using it I noticed a huge difference in my skin. It was more evenly toned, brighter, tighter and appeared much more healthier. After continuous use of this product my skin looks so much more radiant and even, I love it!
I’m a big supporter of No 7’s skin care range any way, they have never EVER let me down. I have purchased so many of their products and you would think that there would definitely be one here or there that was a bit hmmm. But nope, not yet!
I swear by this stuff, you can’t go wrong with it. It took me a long time to find a blemish reducing serum as my blemishes were quite prominent. However the time waiting paid off.
I would absolutely recommend this to anyone with uneven skin tone, blemishes/redness and overly oily skin. I have nothing bad to say about it and that seriously doesn’t often happen with me. I always find something to complain about, even if I have to go digging for it!
Let me know what you think, have you tried this or No 7 products?
P.s. it’s 8 days ’til Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 eeek, excited!
We all have spots, imperfections, blemishes, redness and uneven tones on our skin, no one is perfect and no one has completely clear skin. Sometimes, though, we wish we did have perfectly clear skin. So when those spots and imperfections make an appearance, they’re not planning on leaving all too soon which is the most annoying thing, which is why it’s really handy to have a reliable serum to help them on their way.
I first bought this serum about 3 years ago, it’s on it’s last legs but that’s a whole load of time it’s lasted me, it cost me about £12 from Boots. The formula is quite thick and clear. Once you apply it you know it’s hit the right place, as it does sting quite a bit, it’s a weirdly nice kinda sting though. I just pat it onto the area until any excess has gone. I find it tends to work best on broken skin (so to put it bluntly once you’ve had a whole bunch of fun popping your spot). Redness clears incredibly quickly and the swelling of the area reduces as quick too. The spot itself I find tends to have gone with a couple of days of use, usually once in the morning before make up and once on a night before bed really works for me.
I love this stuff and I’ll be honest, I literally have nothing bad to say about it at all. It’s an absolute must for your beauty&skincare cupboard and is no where near as expensive as some of the higher end brands which in my opinion will either do exactly the same or not work as well. It’s lasted me ages and I’m not one to be blessed with good skin, I have larger pores here and there, my T-Zone gets really oily, I get trapped oil in my skin, I get redness, I get black heads and I certainly get spots WE ALL DO. Your skin is not something to be ashamed of, it doesn’t define you, it doesn’t make you who you are and it doesn’t make you a better or worse person. Honestly, no body, absolutely no body has perfect skin and no body is clear of all of the above, so if someone wearing more make up than your local drug store decides to look at you or treat you differently because you might have a couple of spots here and there or you might have a few patches of uneven skin tone or redness, let them, but see their reaction when you tell them to take of the mask they’re hiding behind.
Be proud of your skin, one of the only times it’s nice to hear this: we’re all the same 🙂.
I’ve had this undying urge lately to get some new bath and skincare products, some of my undying urge produced these two; Origin’s Gloomaway Grapefruit Body Wash and Bubble Bath & Incredible Spreadable Ginger Body Scrub. So here’s my review…
Starting with the Gloomaway Grapefruit Body Wash and Bubble Bath, it smells GORGEOUS! It’s such a refreshing and revitalising scent which is great when you’re having a good old soak in the bath or when you need that freshly pampered feeling. What’s really wonderful about this product is that is makes your body feel thoroughly nourished and moisturised after use, whether its used in the bath or shower. Your skin feels so soft and renewed and that yummy grapefruit smell doesn’t instantly wash away, it stays on your skin and keeps that replenished feeling with you for hours.
I definitely recommend this product based purely on how fantastic and nourished it makes your whole body feel. As it’s slightly more expensive I don’t use it too often, I keep it for those Friday night, end of the working week soaks to make you feel all relaxed and calm. It’s my de-stress time No.1. I feel like when you don’t use it as a regular body wash/soak, you appreciate it and feel the benefit so much more than you would if you were to use it day to day. It’s like feeding your sweet tooth but bathroom style.
Moving on to the Incredible Spreadable Ginger Body Scrub, I’d certainly question the ‘spreadable’ part. The formula is incredibly thick and full of exfoliating natural sugars. In fairness it really does buff the hell out of your skin and leaves you with beautiful baby skin when finished, however it states that it will then “transform into a creamy, cleansing lather”. This doesn’t happen. At all. It is purely a body scrub, no lathering/creamy texture follows, it’s not possible considering how it’s majority natural buffing sugars. Yet, for me, when you get a body scrub and your paying £25 for it, you want a damn good one and that’s what you get. Just don’t expect it to spread all too far or turn into a shower cream & scrub.
Personally for me this is a ‘when I’m feeling rich’ buy for myself, not a regular one, there are much more cost efficient, longer lasting exfoliator/scrub from your local Boots/Superdrug/CVS store. My drug store exchange for this would definitely be St Ives Invigorating Apricot Body Scrub which costs around £4.50. Also, I believe I shockingly almost forgot to mention that the ginger scent is phenomenal, it’s ridiculously relaxing and like the Gloomaway, stays with you for a good few hours, so you can smell phenomenal too! It’s the kind of smell where when you take a good sniff you get your ‘oh my god that smell is to die for’ face on.
I really hope you liked this, if you’ve tried either of these products let me know what you think!
I’m so excited!!! I absolutely love this time of year, it’s the snug season. It’s getting darker, colder and certainly requires more layers! The leaves are changing colour and your lip colours do to. Which is why I wanted to share my top 5 fall lip colours, which are a big change to my usual summery, bright’s and bold’s.
Please me by MAC, which is a beautiful, soft pink with a frosty touch. I love wearing this in autumn, especially on those days where it’s really quite cold or when I don’t apply much eye make up, your lips really stand out. I find it looks gorgeous with ivories/almonds/nudes and baby pinks, all colours which I love wearing when it gets into the chillier seasons.
Glacier by No7, this is also quite frosty, it’s quite a rosy pink with a two tone hint of golden shine. This is beautiful in autumn/winter as it incorporates the slightly darker pink fall shades into the golden fall shades. It really brings out golden/bronze eye make up too! I wear this quite regularly during the cold seasons(even in spring) as it goes with more or less anything and really boosts the appearance of your lips due to the tinted golden shimmer.
Sultry by No7, this is a really deep, matte red. When the weather gets frosty and your skin takes on a slightly paler tone, this looks gorgeous! It looks wonderful with the darker eyes but in the complete opposite looks fab with barely any eye make up on at all. I personally prefer wearing this colour with lighter coloured clothing, whites & creams as it really stands out and the colour itself is a staple of the autumn leafy shades.
Velvet Teddy by MAC, on the scale of nudes this one is definitely on the darker side. It’s quite a heavy matte lipstick and it says put for the day, once it’s on it’s a make up wipe at the end of the day to get it off! I think the warmness of this lipstick compliments the fall weather and especially the colours and tones surrounding you during the fall period. It brings out a lovely natural look and for me fits the season perfectly, it’s certainly not a colour I would wear during spring or summer as it’s too soft. I prefer to wear this with bronze/brown/green eye make up and clothing wise, my khaki’s, navies, ivories and mustards.
Plum Beautiful by No7, is a burnt reddy/brown colour. It’s so pretty!!! I find with this one more than most, it really defines the shape and plumpness of your lips, making them stand out from the crowd big time! This is great with an overall darker look, it fits the barky, fallen brown crunchy leaf feel (if you know what I mean). Personally I love this with black leggings, some tall brown boots and a snugly dark brown/grey/black jumper, wearing dark eye make up but not too much, this colour is one to bring attention to your lips solely.
Thanks for reading lovelies, hope you enjoyed!

Today I wanted to share my skin care routine, below are the products I use…
I always start by removing all my make up (obvs not on a morning…) first with my Simple Kind To Skin Cleaning Wipes and excess eye make up with my No.7 Eye Make up Remover, you have to shake it up to mix it together, but it removes it clean off (it’s glittery too :D). I follow this by putting a covering of Simple’s Oil Balancing Exfoliator and using my little face exfoliator scrubber to aid in a deeper cleanse and dead/dry skin removal. Using this little scrub exfoliator helps increase the blood and lymph flow to your face, creating quicker damage recovery and a healthier looking complexion, removing with sponges. After, I use the Body Shop facial massager, which also increases blood and lymph flow, makes your face feel and appear much fresher and is ridiculously relaxing! It’s great before bed! Then, it’s cleansing time, with Cetaphil’s cleanser which I give my skin a quick rinse with and wash away, then apply No.7’s Spot Rapid Spot Rescue where required, just dabbing on any red/risen areas where acne appears, then applying No.7’s T-Zone rescue. Once this has dried I put a thin layer of Cetaphil moisturiser all over my face, remember when you apply moisturiser just apply a thin enough layer so that once gently rubbed in you have no residue on your hands or face, if so you’ve applied too much, which can clog and grease your skin.
I do this skin routine 2 or 3 times a week,to improve and aid the health of my skin. I prefer a more simplified version of this for my morning and night skin care, firstly because this routine daily is more than your skin needs to be generally healthy and secondly because my bed is my prized possession and I refuse to spend more time out of it on a morning than I have to.
Thats totally normal right…
;D hope this was helpful to you guys, I will be adding a blog of my more simplified morning and evening routine. Please bare in mind that over doing it with skin care routines can make your skin more susceptible to the over productions of it’s natural oils if you’re using products that are strong in chemicals and strip your skin of its natural oils on a regular basis. This can make your skin very oily, you can break out and your efforts to aid the health and appearance of your skin can back fire. Please take care and know your products before you buy them, some are worse for your skin than you may think.
Today I wanted to share with you guys some of my beauty care/make up products I can’t live without. Some are a little more on the expensive side, however they are TOTALLY worth the money you’re spending. Whilst others are some of my all time fave drug store bargains. I’ve given a little bit of info here and there with each one of my faves, just so you have an insight as to why, for me, these are THE products to have on your dressing table…
First and foremost!
MAC’s Studio Finish Concealer (shade NW20)
By 1 bazillion miles this is the best concealer I have EVER come across in. My. Life. It covers any redness, spots or dryness in an instant and you don’t even have to use that much of it. Sometimes are worse than others for me with my skin and I can suffer quite badly from blotchy and dry areas especially around my nose and brows, in effect, my studio fix works as an eraser for me; my blotchy, dry patches goes unnoticeable without any extra foundation or powder coverage (which is awesome for days when you can’t be bothered putting make up on, but you’re not impressed with the appearance of your skin). Also this works wonders for dark circles!
When I do a full face of make up I use this with MAC’s Studio Fix Foundation and Powder.
Firstly, I must point out I do not use this as a general concealer, I use it slightly differently. This is an amazing product to keep in your handbag. Generally through the day, unless you’re wearing a mask, your make up tends to wear off a little bit, no matter what money you pay it (sadly) doesn’t last forever! When I notice my make up starting to wear, dabbing a little bit of the Boi-ing on instantly fixes the appearance of your make up, you don’t have to apply much, just by tapping your finger in the concealer lightly a couple of times picks up just enough to hide those worn/uneven areas.
I recently bought this Maybelline Master Drama Khol Liner (in Ultra Black) and I must say, I was astonished. This stuff is incredible! Its thick but not heavy, strong but not sticky and lasts AAAAGGGEEESSSSS. I apply just one layer of this eye liner (two if its occasional) and it looks like you’ve put about five on. It instantly goes on thick and strong yet you can barely notice it there, where as some which have this effect I tend to find can be quite sticky and weighted, and you just can’t wait to get rid of it (blink it off girl *blinkblinkblinkblink*). I 100% recommend this to all eyeliner wearers, its a money saver in the making I had it weeks and weeks and weeks before I had to sharpen it (if I didn’t use it so much it’d probably last longer, however admittedly, I’m addicted).
Mmmmmmmmmm, Cetaphil… I LOVE THIS STUFF! I have difficulty with my skin at the best of times as its oily, yet regularly dry, blotchy and can get acne quite regularly too. For YEARS (no joke) I tries so many different cleansers, moisturizers, toners, you name it I tried it. (I was also given a face wash by my doctor when I was younger to help reduce acne which massively imbalanced my skin) So I heard about Cetaphil and everyone’s undying love for it once they have been using it, honestly I have to say I certainly wasn’t disappointed. It makes your skin feel super fresh, clean, softer and revitalized, my complexion cleared up in just a couple of short weeks and my dryness had reduced also *try the cetaphil moisturizer too!* It is for all skin types so there is nothing in there that tries to balance one skin type to be another. It is soap free which helps keep balance, soothing, non-comedogenic and fragrance free. I love washing my face with this on a morning with really cold water to wake me up and on an evening, also with cold water to feel fresh and clean before bed.
Oh how child hood hair brushing would’ve been so much more tear-less and simple. I, in honesty was reluctant to try one of these for such a long time, as I didn’t quite understand how it could be so different, oh how I still beat myself up about it to this day… I use this all the time, daily for hair brushing, when I’m out of the shower to brush through those washed, knotted locks, in the shower to brush through my conditioner and brushing through iron curls. It goes through your hair like a knife goes through butter. It’s AMAZING. Knotted, tangled hair is a thing of the past with this brush, even if you’ve got a monster of a knot, when you brush through it with the Tangle Teezer it’s virtually unnoticeable. Another plus, the plastic is so thick on these bad boys they’re basically indestructible. BONUSFEATURE!
Maybelline’s Rocket Volum Express Mascara is by far in my opinion their best yet, even beating the most recent one they have released. I always apply two coats of this mascara for maximum volume and appearance, but one is certainly enough. Plus I had my last one for about 6-8 months before I had to buy a new one and I wear this everyday and as I said before, 90% of the time I wear two coats! I love how dark the appearance is and it lasts all day, it doesn’t seem to wear off at all which is fantastic, especially if you’re an on the go socialite and don’t get a whole bunch of time to re-apply your make up between finishing work and an evening get together at your local restaurant fave. My lashes certainly look longer upon application, its definitely noticeable!
This stuff is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo underrated. I initially found out about this cream when I had my sleeve done and my tattoo artist recommended it over any other typical healing creams, his artwork turned out pretty phenomenal final results and considering how long he’s been in the industry, I wasn’t going to question his recommendations. It is a cleansing agent, it’s impeccable on dry and irritated skin (hence tattoo healing) and soothes and softens out your skin. I adore this cream and make sure I always use it regularly, I had severe dry skin on my legs and arms which caused huge irritation, honestly, within 3 days of using this cream my skin was essentially back to being healthy and soft again, it’s great for after shaving, after sun or general everyday use to keep your skin fresh and supple.
Macadamia Deep Repair Masque. You can’t even hold your hair once its dry it’s so healthy and soft once you’ve applied this masque. It’s heavenly (it smells gorgeous too!). A handful of this spread evenly through out your hair instead of your normal conditioner and left on for 12-15 mins restores your hair to its all natural beauty. I’ve never, EVER used a masque quite like it. I use this once a month, twice if its winter as my hair can get quite dry and your hair feels as soft as baby hair, I’m seriously not exaggerating. Please give it a try. I have a link below for all who want to have a nosey (sorry I could get a picture it’s at my house and I’m away at the moment)
I hope you all have enjoyed this and taken some inspiration for a few new products to give a go here and there.
Let me know how you get on in the comments below!!
