Maybelline Master Drama eyelier VS Maybelline Linerefine Kajal eyeliner

wpid-20150302_192445_richtonehdr-1.jpg

Hey Guys!

So if you’ve read my recent blogs you’ll know that I have bought a different eyeliner to normal. I usually get the Maybelline Master Drama eyeliner, it’s absolutely amazing I swear by the stuff, however I noticed they had a different one I hadn’t seen before so I figured why not give it a whirl and compare the two!

Firstly they’re priced quite similarly, the Linerefine is £2.99 and the Master Drama is £4.49, so they’re super cheap and super affordable. There is only £1.50 difference between them, so personally I wasn’t expecting a huge difference, especially not at these prices! I bought mine from Boots but Maybelline products are sold everywhere from your local supermarket, the pharmacy or makeup store.

I originally bought the Master Drama as a one off ‘see how it goes’ purchase and fell in love with it. It’s a cream liner so you can use it on both your eye lid or your water line. Due to it’s texture it stays put for a very long time, I’ve known it to keep it’s appearance on my water line for up to about 5-6 hours which is pretty good going for an eyeliner. This liner only takes one quick application and the first layer is 100% enough. It applies a nice strong, thick layer of liner that is hardy and long lasting. The only down side to this product is that you go through it much faster than a normal eye liner. With it being a cream based liner it sharpens and rubs down much faster. But that’s the one and only thing about this product thats a bit of a bummer.
Pro’s: Long lasting appearance, only £4.49, one layer is absolutely enough, usable on both your waterline and eyelid, quick easy application.

Cons: Wears down easily due to being a cream liner.

Now onto the Linerefine eyeliner. This pencil is more of a standard liner pencil. It’s got a strong, woody texture and applies like a standard liner. It’s definitely not something I would advise using on any other eye area than your lash line, the pencil doesn’t actually give much way to your skin and drags your skin as opposed to gliding on nicely. On your water line, again it applies like any basic, standard eye liner. It takes a few layers of building (and when I say a few, I mean don’t bother if you’re in a rush) which I have found works the best if you apply 3-4 layers then allow about 1-2 minutes to dry then apply another 2 or 3. Only then do you get a relatively good coverage of your water line.
Pro’s: Only £2.99, takes a long time to wear down.

Cons: For it to appear a black eyeliner it takes several layers of application before it’s noticeable, not usable on eyelids, strong woodiness of the actual pencil can be quite harsh when applying, I actually think the product is over priced for the quality it provides.

So out of the two I would definitely recommend the Master Drama! As you’ll see above there are much more cons to pro’s on the Linerefine to the Master Drama. Out of two eyeliners which are both incredibly reasonably priced as it is, for a £1.50 difference in price there is an enormous difference in quality. The Linerefine liner is comparable to any cheap, basic liner you’ll find. Whereas the Master Drama is better than a lot of high end eye liners I’ve tried out!

Here’s a swatch of the two when I applied one layer of each to my hand: (Left is Linerefine and right is Master Drama)
wpid-20150315_152001.jpg
And the difference when I applied one layer of each to my waterline: (Left is Master Drama right is Linerefine)
wpid-20150315_151838-1.jpg

Looking at the difference on my waterline you can clearly see how bold and thick the Master drama applies with one quick layer as opposed to the Linerefine which looks like I’ve had it on all day and I’m about to take it off, even though I’ve actually just applied it.

Let me know what you think, have you tried either of these products? What was your experience with them??

See you sooooon!

AUTUMN TAG!

So I recently saw this post and LOVED it!

I’m a huge fan of this time of year and a huge fan of a good tag, so I figured, ya know, why not go for it! No one tagged me for it so lets go with I tagged myself :D…

wpid-img_20141205_181932.jpg

So, coffee – what’s your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks/Costa/Cafe Nero/Pret?
Sticky Toffee Latte from Costa. It’s concerningly addictive. Like a sticky toffee pudding plonked in a coffee. Oh how scrummy!

What do you opt for, scarf, boots, gloves?
Scarf!

What’s your favourite music to listen to during Autumn?
George Ezra 100% is my all time favourite snug music artist. I also like a good Paloma Faith/Take That cycle too. *Happy dancing around your house singing down your hairbrush (microphone), like you’re performing in a Lady GaGa style concert…*

What’s your favourite perfume for this time of year?
Ed Hardy’s Heart’s and Dagger’s is a perfect scent for this time of year, but I also love Lady Million and Dot.

What scents will you be burning this season?
Majestic Fir, Christmas Baking, Sunlight on the Snow, Christmas Cookies and Fireside Treats.

What do you love most about Autumn?
I love getting all of my jumpers and snuggly clothes out again. I love being inside on a night is my snug warm jammies with a thick fleece throw on and a candle and looking out of the window thinking, jeeeeez I’m glad I’m inside with the heating on!

Favourite make-up look?
Dark eye liner both on my lids and on my water line, thick mascara, nude blush and purple/deep red lipstick.

What are you looking forward to most in Autumn?
CHRISTMAS!!!! Wearing all of my winter boots, scarves and hats. Getting my onesies on, putting my jammies and towels on the radiator before I put them on, getting my bed bogged down with tones of hot water bottles and putting my fleece blankets on. Having time to slob on the sofa and watch tonnes of crime documentaries until I can’t keep my eyes open. But mostly, spending time with my family, I do a lot of the year but not anywhere near as much as we want to because we’re all so busy. So christmas is a huge get together and relax. It’s something I wait for all year!

I. Love. Autum. And I. Love. Winter.

This is definitely my favourite time of year, you may possibly be able to argue that with me when it comes to my two week holiday abroad. But let’s do that then…
For now

CHRISTMAS!!!!

#SundayFundayCatchUp – London Trip

Hello there!

This weeks been an interesting one! I’ve been to London – not to see the queen, but to see my family. It’s been absolutely lovely and for a change the weather held out really nice too, very autumnal these days! I managed to finish my Christmas shopping YES! and did a little bit of shopping for myself to get into the festive mood, including managing to burn my mouth to bits, eating the hottest pizza at Pizza Express. Well done Ellis – clap clap.  Also I got a bit lucky with the seats on the train, you know when you’re one of those people that no matter how often you travel, you always get sat next to the weirdo on the train, or the one with the annoying kids, or the one that smells funny, well I know your pain. However this time was different, on the way there AND back I had no one sat next to me, and I was sat on a table and I got the window seat. I was in utter shock, it was fantastic! Lesson learned for me: ALWAYS GO IN THE QUIET COACH – it’s full of sensible people with no children (bliss).

One of my favourite places to visit in London is Carnaby Street, I must of been there a hundred times but I’ve never noticed this guy:
wpid-20141120_124053.jpg
Just  casually poking his head out of the window of the Shakespeare Pub, pretty weird I must admit.

I happily introduced myself to the new Starbucks Christmas blend coffee, YUM! Although it does annoy me when they don’t ask if you’re sitting in or not and give you a take out cup, some of us like drinking our coffee out of a soup bowl you know!
I was also introduced to The Euston Cider Tap. How have I never been before! I love this place and am very grateful my dad took me. It’s the weirdest place but I love how vintage and almost ‘shed converted into pub’ style it is. It screams London at you and there’s tonnes of unusual craft Ciders there both sparkling and flat. Recommended to all cider lovers stopping by London!!
wpid-20141119_093520.jpgwpid-img_20141120_152729.jpg

On the buying front, I bought myself a few bits and bats to get myself into the Christmassy mood, which included a long stare down between me, some Yankee Candles and some candles I spotted in Clintons which I still have no idea what make they are. Usually I find myself backed into a corner when I see a Yankee Candle and must buy it, however, I spotted these candles I’ve never seen before just next to them and they sure did smell gorgeous. It did take a wee while but a mile stone was hit and I turned away from the aray of Yankee Candles and picked up these two:

wpid-20141123_144133-1.jpg
They are super gorgeous and super festive too! These were the only two festive scents though :(, but I’ll definitely be buying them again, they were only £7.99 each as opposed to £19.99 for a large Yankee Candle, I’m guessing they were Clintons Own brand, but I’m not sure.

I also treated myself to some Christmas coffee from the infamous Fortnum and Masons, I always get myself the Christmas coffee blend and keep the tins, they’re lovely for keeping random bits in and the coffee’s the best tasting blend you’ve ever had. All coffee lovers = magnetised. You can’t help it seriously. I also bought the Darjeeling Bop tea – partly because I love the name and partly because the tea is so gorgeous! I got a sampler once through the post and just had to get some. And to go with it, a super Christmassy, wonderfully large, pretty coloured, just awesome festive mug of my favourite place!

wpid-20141123_144210-1.jpg

Left: George Street Right: Lancelot Place

And finally I added further to my nails inc polish collection, how lovely are these two colours for the season! I put the Lancelot Place on with some sparkly black polish and it looks epic, can’t wait to try out George Street!

I’ve been getting super in the festive mood since I got home, I don’t care what anyone says, the decorations are up, the advent calendar is at the ready and the snug nights in have begun on another level. Now to get ridiculously excited for Christmas. Whoopppaaa!!!!!

#SundayFundayCatchUp

Well hello there!

I’ve been so excited to start doing these #SundayFundayCatchUp blogs. I think it’s kinda nice being able to veer off of the typical beauty side of my blog and just have a more friendly, fun update on all of the goings on lately. However, this one is going to be more of a what’s been going on lately as opposed to the past week, seeing as though it’s my first one 🙂
So lets get started!

The past few weeks have been particularly testing for me, as my three and a half year relationship abruptly came to an end a few weeks ago, which was an absolute shock to me as everything had been the same as it always had been. Out of no where when I was told he was popping over to pick me up I was faced with the comment ‘I don’t feel the same anymore‘, which was like a freight train to the face, the life I was so used to was going to be changing significantly. So following that slap to the face came my anxiety, which has been under control for quite a while now and it seemed to be making up for lost time. Because of how bad it was I wasn’t able to go into work, which was like another kick in the face as I thoroughly enjoy my job and a lot of my good friends are there so it was a battle to convince myself that going to work would make everything better. Thankfully, my boss, colleagues, friends and family were unbelievably supportive, which helped me in getting back on track quicker than I expected.

Following that I was just getting used to the fact I’d be spending all my time at my house now and a lot more time with my flat mate, which the more I thought about it, the more I was accepting that having my own space and my own life might actually be quite nice. However, things went wrong there too and financially, it had become unaffordable for her, so we had to make the decision about her moving out. This was a really difficult decision to make for me, as I love her company and we’ve had so much fun together at our place, unfortunately, you can’t argue with the reality of a situation sometimes.

So as you can imagine the past month has been a bit of a roller-coaster to say the least. Although, on the brighter side, me and my ex still get on very well (after a long chat and me saying a few choice words about the whole thing), we still take the dogs out for walks every so often and have a good old catch up and a laugh. And to keep me company in my place, I got my hands on these two little cuties, who are unbearably sweet!

wpid-20141016_202008-1.jpgwpid-20141016_201618-1.jpgwpid-20141016_201212-1-2.jpg
Meet Gertie(bottom) and Flo(top)

Work has been forever interesting, my boss bought us a new coffee machine this week – ALL HAIL THE COFFEE – so as you can imagine I was overly excited about our new office feature. On an even more exciting note, I was on puppy duty again with my bosses new little pup Oscar.
wpid-20141113_092631.jpg
So it was cuddles and games all round on Wednesday morning and a fantastic excuse for not doing any work. Marvellous!

Speaking of marvellous, to top my week off perfectly, Vera Wang Princess was on offer for £24, Minestrello Prosecco was on offer for £5.99 AND Cadburys Dairy Milk 360g bars (I say bars BLOCKS) were on offer for £2! It’d be rude not to wouldn’t it!

wpid-20141116_122009-1.jpg

So, I shall be doing regular updates every sunday: #SundayFundayCatchUp. Don’t forget to keep updated! 🙂

Your BEDroom

wpid-20140920_194954.jpg

Trouble sleeping? Is your bedroom your entire living space except when you’re hungry or need the loo or a shower? Do you go to bed and sit up for the next 5 hours watching your favourite series or YouTube videos? Is your room full of bright lights? Do you go to bed then sit on your phone for hours scrambling through your wishlist on Amazon?
NaughtyNaughty. No wonder you’re having trouble sleeping! Your bedroom is exactly what is says on the tin, it’s not a living space or bed-office. It’s your BEDroom, the place you go to relax and to sleep, calm down and unwind.

So many people I know, me included used to live in their room. They would go to their room and sit in bed on their computer for hours on end, on facebook, twitter, YouTube, Amazon, watching their favourite TV series, yet continuously complain that they can’t sleep. I tended to find it happened more with me when I lived with my parents, because it was the only room that was mine, my own space, my little world. Yet how is your brain supposed to associate your bedroom with rest, relaxation and sleep if what you do when your in there is the complete opposite?!

You need to have your living space in one room, whether it’s your kitchen, office, living room, wherever suits you, sit in the bathroom if it makes you happy, just don’t live your day to day, busy, time consuming life in your bedroom. Your bedroom is your rest space, your sleep space, your relaxation and unwinding space, so you should treat it that way. Your mind associates different places with different mind frames, i.e. school is one for working, your kitchen is a place where you cook, prepare and eat, your bathroom is a place you go to pamper yourself and be clean and your bedroom is a place where you go to relax and sleep. So you need to do things in your room that associate your mind with that.

For example, put some candles in your room, some mildly scented ones (I have vanilla), on your shelves and around your bed and/or some fairy lights to create some nice ambient lighting. Don’t put your bright bedside light on or as Peter Kay says: the ‘Big Light’. They’re too bright, it’ll keep you awake and keep your brain working harder than it needs to be. Make sure your bed is welcoming and comfy, if your sheets are boring or uncomfortable, get some new ones! Get a nice cosy throw for your bed and some cushions to prop yourself up on. I’m not saying go to bed and go to sleep immediately, I’m just saying don’t go to bed when you’re not tired, with zero intention of going to sleep for the next 6 hours. Put your favourite book in your bedside drawer and put things around you that make you happy, whether it’s your teddies, pictures, ornaments, or something someone important to you has got for you. Just make your sleeping space a really welcoming, comforting place to be. Your mind instantly relaxes around that kind of environment and if your doing all the things in your room which you do during your day to day life when your brain cogs are going mental, how do you expect your brain to relax?!

Sleep is so important. It’s great for your mind, it’s healthy and it makes you feel so much better the next day. Who wants to have to get up at 8am for work feeling like crap just to know that crappy feeling is just going to get worse all day? Make your bedroom your bedroom and your other rooms in your house your living space, you’ll notice a world of difference when it comes to actually feeling relaxed and tired when you go to bed. You wont regret making such small changes that will make such a huge difference. They have helped me so much more than I could’ve imagined! You’ll feel so much better with more sleep and knowing that your room is your rest space 🙂

Take care and sleep well guys, in your BEDroom, it’s not called that for no reason 🙂

The Liebster Award

woods

Hey there guys,

So I have very kindly been nominated for the Liebster Award by OliLoves, so thankyou so much 🙂

The rules for nominating bloggers for the Liebster Award is relatively simple, just follow these 5 easy steps:

1. You have to link back to the person who nominated you.

2. Nominate however many blogs you want to receive the award who have less than 1000 followers.

3. Answer a list of 11 questions set by the person who nominated you.

4. Set a list of 11 questions for the people you want to nominate to answer your questions.

5. Tell them that they have been nominated by commenting on their blog.

I have 3 people in mind I would like to nominate:
1. Beautsoup

2.ninafashionlife

3.Anomolous Me Beauty

I thoroughly enjoy reading their posts and each of them have inspired me both in life and blogging.
So here goes with my question answering – yikes:

1. What made you want to set up a blog?

I have always loved the idea of blogging and exploring youtube vlogs and blogs has inspired me to create my own. I have an honest love for all things hair, beauty, nails and health, so this is what has pushed me to begin my own blog.

2. Where is your dream place to live?

Hong Kong 100%

3. What advice would you give to someone who wants to set up a blog?

Just go for it. Make sure you have a basis of what you will be blogging about and make it known to others and definitely make sure you have the time available to dedicate to blogging too. You need to factor in a lot of time and effort so you really need to WANT to do this.

4. How did you come up with the theme to your blog?

I studied beauty therapy when I left school as it’s something I’ve always had a love for. I wanted to learn more and share my love for beauty, hair, nails etc with other people. I’m very much a people person so I wanted to focus my blog on being very chatty and personable too.

5. What is your inspiration?

I have followed certain youtuber’s for many years: JLovesMac1, Zoella, BubzBeauty and a few others, but these main 3 have really inspired me to feel that I can do it too and you don’t need to be someone with lots of money or lots of confidence to share your love for something and other people enjoy what you have to say.

6. How would you describe yourself?

Friendly, fun, to the point, I put all my effort into everything I do, most of my closest friends would also probably say that I’m not all there too 😉

7. What has been your favourite holiday and why?

When I went to Lapland, there’s nothing more beautiful or fulfilling for anyone than when you go there. It was a dream come true.

8. What is or was your favourite subject in school?

Art

9. What’s your favourite food?

I’m a huge fan or Chinese food and also a huge fan or Italian food. I think Italian out of the two because I’m a cooking obsessive too and I can cook a lot more Italian dishes than Chinese ones, which means I have learnt more about the food and learnt more dishes.

10. What is your ideal job?

Working at a Panda Rescue home.

11. What is your favourite colour?

Honestly, that’s a tough one between baby pink and bright orange. Can’t decide. Sorry!

Hope you found that some what interesting… Here’s my 11 questions for my nominated 3:

1. Do you have a middle name? If so, do tell…

2.Who inspired you to blog?

3.Do you have any pets? If so what are they including names?

4.If you could travel anywhere for 6 months, where would it be?

5.What is your favourite beverage (non alcoholic/alcoholic)?

6.What is the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever done?

7.What would you say is the best thing about yourself?

8.Name your favourite TV Series

9.What was the last film you went to see at the movies?

10.What is your favourite restaurant called?

11.What is your all time favourite child hood cartoon?

Now don’t be shy and do tell 🙂

Thanks again to OliLoves for the nomination, it means a hell of a lot!
Looking forward to the answers to the questions ladies!
