LOTD: Simple Day to Day Look & Winged Liner

wpid-2015-01-06-20.56.52.jpg.jpeg

Hey m’lovelies!

Today is LOTD day, and this one is my easy peasy, day to day make up that suits everyone. It’s quick to do, so it’s great for on the go, in a rush, early morning make up AND great for giving you some extra time in bed! I wear this look for work a lot, but the great thing about it is, you can doll it up with different lipsticks, some extra liner on your water line and some stronger bronzing and blush effects. BUT today, it’s super simple day (kind of like my brain at times).

So on my face I have:

  • MAC’s Studio Finish Concealer under my eyes and covering blemishes
  • MAC’s Studio Fix Foundation in NW15
  • Benefit’s Boing in shade 2, under my eyes to even out and add to the coverage
  • MAC’s Studio Finish Powder in NW18
  • Benefit’s HOOLA Bronzer lightly under my cheek bones, around my temples and lightly on my jaw line towards the back
  • MAC’s Melba Blusher very lightly on my cheek bones

On my Lips:

  • MAC’s Viva Glam 2 from the Viva Glam collection

On my Eyes:

  • Burnout from Urban Decays Naked3 Palette, only on my lids
  • Maybelline’s Eyestudio Drama Gel Liner in Intense Black, I have applied this in more of an inward curve shape as you can see. I haven’t stuck with the typical cat eye winged liner, I think for tired eye’s this can really wake them up and give them great shape and body. I have lightly extended past the edge of my eye creating about a 2cm length wing, which I have brought under my lower lashes too, to widen and waken the eyes.
  • Maybelline’s Rocket Volum Mascara

And that’s it!

Honestly, this takes me between 5-7 minutes to do on a morning if that. It’s a great time saving but beautiful look, it doesn’t look like it’s taken such a short time which is an awesome little trick to keep up your sleeve!

Ways to edit the look slightly:

You can cut the gel liner out and go for a deep/dark shade which covers your whole lid instead, this looks just as gorgeous. Keep OR remove the gel liner and add in some eye liner on your water line. Or change up the shade of lipstick to make it into a bit more of a subtle occasional look, with some reds/purples/deep pinks.

Hope you liked this guys, let me know if it saves you any time like it saves me, I love it!

New Years Eve Eye Make-up Tutorial – Naked3 Palette

wpid-20141229_164818-1-1.jpgwpid-20141229_164800-1.jpgnaked3 eye makeup

Hey there m’lovelies!

New Years Eve is literally right around the corner, so I figured it’d be nice to share with you guys one of my go to eye make up looks which is great for any celebratory occasion. I love this look specifically because it’s so versatile. You can wear it with any lip colour, any style of clothing and for any type of occasion, whether it’s a party, wedding, meal, prom or a night out. You name it, it works!

There are 4 shades which I have used for this look, 3 for the main shading and 1 for the brow bone highlight, all of which were from the Naked3 Palette by Urban Decay. I also used Benefits Bikini-Tini cream shadow as a base. If you don’t have it I will have a picture of it below, explaining which shades I used, so you can get an idea to match to.
I used:
naked3 palette arrows
From left to right: Strange to highlight my brow bone, Trick on my inner corner across my lid, Factory from the outer corner to the middle and Blackheart from the outer corner blended at an angle 3/4’s of the way across my crease only.

So beginning with Trick, I took that and applied it the whole way across my lid, no where else. I followed this by adding Factory to the outer corner of my eye and blending it 1/2 way across my eyelid to the centre, again only on the lid. Then I took a small angled brush and created a line from the corner of my eye to about 1/3rd of the way up. I then took a flat blending brush and applied it from the guidance line I just created, and in horizontal motions, began blending across my crease adding a slight curve to the blending motion. Black heart has a gentle hint of deep plumb to it when you look in the light, which is why you need to make sure you blend it out thoroughly. If you don’t you wont get the mild plumby haze which sits just lightly above the black shade, giving it a gorgeous uniqueness. Now you want to take a small pointed blending brush and apply the tiniest amount of Blackheart to the corner of your lid, just to enhance the shading on the lid and so you don’t get a really harsh cut crease. Keep it quite close to the corner blending gently about 1/4 of the way into your lid. Now take Strange and highlight your brow bone with a fluffy small blending brush. To finish the eye shadow, take your angled brush again and apply Blackheart 2/3rd’s of the way in under your lower lashes, keeping it very close to your water line, then take a clean angled brush and use Trick to finish the last third under your lower lashes to the inner corner of your eye.

To finish the look, use a black eye liner under your water line, top and bottom, then take a good black mascara and apply generously. I haven’t used a gel liner to create any winged look at all as I don’t feel it is necessary and the look is perfectly complimentary as it is. I don’t feel it’s needed. But to enhance the look if you’re wearing this for a night out or a bigger occasion, some thick false lashes look gorgeous with this look!

Because this is such a versatile look you can go for so many different lip colours/glosses to compliment the eye shadow. My favourite shades are, deep purples, vampy reds and beige/dark nudes with a very slight hint of pink to them – a good example of this kind of nude is MAC’s Viva Glam 2 (just so you get my drift). You could finish with a gloss if you liked but the shadows do have a shimmer to them, so you may not want to over sparkle, and keep your lips matte.

For the rest of my face, I kept it on the neutral side, using MAC’s Gingerly blush and Benefit’s HOOLA bronzer and taking Benefit’s Watts Up?! highlighting cream stick on the bridge of my nose, above my cheek bones and bottom of my chin, just to create some shape and body to my face.

I hope this look has given you guys some inspiration for this evening and I hope you all have an amazing evening and welcoming to the new year! All of my absolute best wishes for 2015 my darlings!

LOTD Simple & Easy Fall Makeup

wpid-img_20141031_080816.jpg

Hey there my lovelies!

Fall is certainly here, the hats, gloves, scarves and thick coats have made their return and so has my seasonal make up change up. I often do this make up during this time of year as it keeps things nice and simple and fits with the colours around you, also allowing your natural beauty to filter through too.

On my face lives:

  • MAC’s studio finish concealer covering blemishes in NW15
  • Benefit’s Boi-ing concealer under my eyes covering my dark circles in No 2
  • MAC’s studio fix liquid foundation in NW15
  • MAC’s studio fix powder foundation in NW18
  • Benefit’s HOOLA bronzer under my cheek bones, around my temples and my back jaw line
  • MAC’s blush in MELBA

On my eyes:

  • Benefit’s cream eye shadow in Bikini-Tini
  • Maybelline’s studio gel eye liner in 01 Black
  • Maybelline’s Master Drama eyeliner in Black
  • Maybelline’s Rocket Volum’ Express Mascara in Black

On my lips:

  • No 7’s Lipstick in Plum Beautiful

When I do my gel eye liner I like it to be a slightly thicker line as it emphasises the lashes and compliments the dark liner on your water line. The dark Plum lips go perfectly with your dark eyes and really become noticeable. I tend to find that the calm subtleness of the blush shade and how lightly the bronzer is applied really helps in not hiding your skins natural appearance in the cold chill. So you know when your face gets so cold that it starts to take hints of pink around your cheeks, nose and a little on your forehead, it’s something you want to see in the autuminal season. You don’t want it hidden under layers and layers of make up so you look like a toy doll! One of the beauties of this gorgeous season is bringing out your natural beauty. Okay so emphasise your eyes and lips but keep your skin looking natural, that’s what seasonal make up is all about, especially this season!

I hope you liked the look, if so let me know! πŸ™‚

Super speedy subtle smoky eye!

picture048Β picture029

Do you ever wake up on a morning a bit too late and don’t really have time to do much with your make up? Well this sweet and subtle smoky eye takes three minutes tops, so no more excuses! I used the following:

20140912_18490620140912_184854
Benefits Bikini-tini long lasting cream shadow for the base, I just spread this evenly over my eyelid Β only with my ring finger. It creates a light, shimmery golden base. With it being cream, the compact shadow stays put extra long!

20140824_182741
Then, under my brows I apply a strip of Benefits Watts Up to highlight my brow boneΒ and blend downwards with a flat eye-shadow brush until it’s blended down to your crease.

20140912_184938-120140912_185204
Next I use Benefits Thanks a Latte eye-shadow and apply with a small buffing brush from the outer corner of my eye and blend inwards about 2/3 of the way, ensuring it’s blended in completely. I used the small point GOSH buffing brush I’ve had this for years it’s an amazing drug store product! Remember,Β you need to do this lightly, you can measure how light or heavily you are buffing by how far down you are holding your brush. The lower your holding you’re brush the lighter you’re buffing, the closer to the bristles, the heavier you’re buffing, simples :).

20140912_185724
Then still using Benefits Thanks a Latte, I take a soft angled brush, again from GOSH. I just apply it about 1/3 the way in under my lower lash line and use the small point buffing brush to blend it out in a horizontal motion as opposed to circular.

20140824_182715
Finally, I apply a layer of my Maybelline Master Drama black eye liner on my water line for a slightly darker smoky look, this is completely optional. If your going for a more laid back look then you might not want to do this. Although I do find this make up stays on for ages, so if you’re going out straight after work take your eye liner with you, to give it some umph!

Don’t believe it takes 3 minutes, try it and prove me wrong! Did you guess I’m a huge Benefit fan… ;P

Let me what you think!…

Benefit HOOLA Lip Gloss Review…

20140902_203733_LLS-1

Aloha my lovely ladies!!!!

I recently was given a sample of Benefit’s HOOLA Lip Gloss recently, having not tried it before but seen it in store I was quite the interested madam…

20140903_201523

Above is a swatch of HOOLA.

It’s not very dark, it accentuates your lips more than changes the colour. It’s silky smooth on your lips and isn’t sticky at all which is virtually unheard of with lip glosses. It looks lovely on it’s own as it’s got a very glossy glisten to it with a glittery hint but still holds a very beautiful and even occasional appearance. However I personally like to wear it over a beige/light brown lipstick, it looks absolutely stunning and really boosts the look of these shades. I find that it gives your lips quite a rounder plumper look (gorgeous!) because it sits quite strongly on top of your lips and to make it even better it lasts for a very long time, whooppa! (Oh and even better it smells and tastes amazing too – did I really just say that…)

I’ll definitely buy this again as soon as I run out, it certainly lives up to Benefits usual high standards I recommend it highly!

Is there anything you have tried out that’s really blown you away, or in the opposite direction, reeeeally disappointed you?
Let me know in the comments below! I’d love to hear about it!

Thanks for reading hunnies!

My Maybelline Baby Skin product review…

Helloooooooo!

Today I wanted to do a review about a product I was highly recommended in the store, the Maybelline Baby Skin – instant pore eraser primer.

20140824_181615

It was put across to me as the all new drug store version of Porefessional by Benefit, which is a particularly fantastic product and I’m personally a huge fan of.

I must say I wasn’t all to impressed…

Upon application, it hasn’t reduced or even slightly changed the appearance of my pores, it’s greasy so your make up can’t set properly and wipes off with your finger as it would with a make up wipe. It’s thick and heavy so you know you’re wearing it, primer should be totally lightweight and an aid towards the appearance of your make up. Then on top of that, it’s caused me to break out, which I assume has a lot to do with it’s thick and greasy nature.

I was honestly surprisedΒ as it had been so ‘bigged up’ to me in the store, I was pretty excited to try it out, especially as referenced to a similar standard to Porefessional.

I think I can safely say for me this product wasn’t the best experience, we’ve all had a wrong choose in the shop, so I’ll 100% be sticking to Benefit’s Porefessional in future, it’s worth the extra money and much, much better.

You need to try different products to know the difference I guess, a change in choice is never a bad one in my opinion, even if you go back to your original one πŸ™‚
