Mini Beauty & Skincare Haul!!!

wpid-20150302_191852-1.jpg

‘Ey up!

I don’t do this all too often however it is my birthday month and I’m certainly allowing myself to splash out a bit more than normal, you’re only 21 once! Sadly. So to start off my ‘buying loadsa STUFF’ month, I did a mini Boots haul. They had 3 for 2 on both Maybelline products AND all facial and skin care products. It’d have been rude not to right? I’ve had my eye on a bunch of this stuff for a while but never got round to buying it, but me and a friend had a nice day out in the city centre last saturday and mooched round some shops. You know those ‘mooches’ that turn into walking out of the shop with ten more items than the one or two you expected to walk out with. It was one of them. And I loved it.

I bought some other bits and bats, some clothes and shoes too but I’m going to do them seperately otherwise this blog will go on foreverrrrrrrrrrrrr.

SO. The first thing I just had to get my hands on was the Lash Sensational by Maybelline. I’ve heard soooooo much about this product and seen so many ‘first tries’ and reviews, all of which have astounded me. So I needed to get some for myself. This mascara has absolutely lived up to it’s name. My lashes have never looked so good, not ever. They’re separated perfectly, they’re about as long as my arm, last all day and it’s only £7.99! This product beats probably about 90% of the high end mascaras you pay triple the price for. Honestly, you can’t fault this, it’s amazing. I highly recommend it to everyone!

Moving on to the one and only – Soap and Glory. I LOVE THIS BRAND! They do some unbelievable products, for such reasonable prices. I’ve wanted to give the Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub a go for a while. It’s full of natural ingredients such as, “organic cupuaçu, bananas, almond and honey extracts”. It also has this gorgeous smell of maple syrup too. Nom! It smells so good you just want to eat it! Because the scrub grains are almost like sugar granule size I use it every day to give my skin a good buff on an evening. It’s only £8.00 too!
The other product I got from here was the Rub Your Nose In It pore refining masque which was £11.50. It’s supposed to be applied to your T-zone to help reduce the size and appearance of pores and aid in the reduction of excess oils produced on and around your T-zone. I’ve been looking for a new interesting masque now for a little while, so I figured I should give this one a whirl. Why not. It’s also got a pepperminty smell which is interesting, it feels quite cold and refreshing on your face which is lovelyyy. As it’s a first time buy I can’t really say all too much about it, so I’m going to keep using it for the next week and do a follow up review on it, so keep an eye out for that one!

As we’re on facial skin care, I also purchased another first time buy. One I haven’t seen before, although I may just be slightly blind. The Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser which was £4.99. I’m umming and ahhing about this product at the minute and I shall tell you why. Firstly it’s a really bizarre texture when it comes out of the pump, it almost begins to separate in your hands a bit like jelly. It’s weird. Secondly after about 45 seconds of rubbing it into your skin it feels super cold and begins to sting. Now, I’m not really on board with this, because initially when it felt like that, it’s worryingly similar to feeling like you’re having a bad reaction to it, so instantly I wanted to get it off my face. Turns out I wasn’t having a reaction to it, that’s just how it feels. So I stand by my comment: It’s Weird. Due to it’s weirdness I’m going to give it a test period of about 2 weeks to see how it does and if it makes any difference to my skin at all, then it’s review time!

Back on with the make-up! I bought the Maybelline Line Refine Expression Kajal Liner in Black. I’m used to the Master Drama, I absolutely adore that eyeliner it stays put longer than any waterline eyeliner I’ve ever known in my life! However, on a sad, sad note, they had none left *sniffsniff*. So I figured why not give this one a go instead. It’s not as thick upon application BUT, it sits strongly on your waterline and hangs about for quite a while and considering it’s £1.50 cheaper, I’m okay with that until I get my hands on some more Master Drama!
I also got myself another Baby Lips, but this one is the Dr Rescue one. So lets see if it’s any different shall we! So far the only difference I can tell is that when you put it on it’s got a menthol-y kick to it, so no fast head swishing or running or moving around much in the cold, you may experience mental issues due to being convinced your lips are going to freeze off. You get used to it though. I think… Other wise I’m going to use it daily for the next week or so and see if it makes a difference to my original Baby Lips Maybelline brought out. I believe a comparison blog is in sight. This balm from the Baby Lips range is slightly more expensive than the basic ones at £3.49 as opposed to £2.99, so not by much!

Finally, a polish purchase. You can’t leave with out a new one. Well, I can’t anyway. Do I have a problem??? I’ve got a similar colour to this Rimmel polish before from this Salon Pro line however this one is slightly darker. I love the colour I put it straight on when I got home and the quality is amazing! It’s application is fab and it lasts very well. I saw some other gorgeous colours in this range aswell. And it’s only £4.49…
God help me.

Anyhow guys that’s it for my mini Boots haul. I’ll be doing quite a few review/follow up blogs on these purchases as there are quite a few first time buys here, so I’ll be letting you know my very honest opinion on these as always.

I hope you’re all well! Don’t forget it’s mothers day soon for those of you out there with a sieve brain like yours truley!

My Drugstore Makeup

wpid-20141113_185945_lls-1.jpg

Hello lovelies!

Today I’m going to do my drugstore make up face essentials (i.e. what I carry round in my make up back for touch ups!) I love every single one of these products and the reason being is that they are about half the price yet equal quality to high end products, for brands like MAC, NARS and Bare Minerals.

Firstly I have to mention the concealer I use which I STUPIDLY ran out of and binned before I took this photo (and sorry but there’s no way you’re going to get me trailing through any bins for that girl!), the one I use is Maybelline’s Pure Mineral Concealer. It doesn’t wipe off or get thinner as the day goes on, it just stays the same. As you put it on it’s a good strong coverage and I know you will understand what I mean by that it doesn’t apply a shade darker than stated on the tube when you buy it, like some cheaper concealers can do. It’s exactly the shade you expect and it works to a much higher standard than you would expect for something affordably priced from your local drug store.

Following that is the No7 Stay Perfect foundation, this has beautiful coverage and gives that dewy finish that looks so natural, I actually prefer this without any powder because it just gives the appearance of flawless natural skin.

I apply a thin layer of GOSH’s ‘Precious bronzer pearls’ to under my cheek bones, I say a thin layer because this particular bronzer has a slight shimmer to it so you don’t want to apply too much or you’ll look like your inner greek goddess statue is coming out.

Following my bronzer I apply Maybelline’s ‘Expert Wear’ compact blush. I really like this, because like most Maybelline products it doesn’t just stay there for a couple of hours before it smudges and looks like you’ve left your make up on from the night before. It sticks around for a good 7-8 hours. I love Maybelline, what can I say.

So for my eyes, yes I’m about to preach some more about Maybelline so just bare with if you’re having issues, I use Maybelline’s Rocket Volum’ Mascara, with their ‘Eyestudio Drama Gel Liner’, nice and thinly above my upper lash line and then again Maybelline’s Master Drama Khol Liner. All of the above stay on all day for a minimum of 12 hours, minus the khol liner, that’s about 5 hours on one layer, call me a liar if you like but you wont when you’ve tried it! Seriously, I have never and will never buy high end eye make up products when you have Maybelline at such an affordable price (maybe on eye-shadows – but nothing else!) Finally to finish with my eyes I use my GOSH palette, to be honest, I have probably bought about 7/8 of their eye-shadow palettes and each one has been as good as the last. The stay on strong for about 8 hours minimum and blend BEAUTIFULLY! Out of the one above I like to put on the peach base and blend the mild brown shade from the outer corners inwards, very pretty and very subtle.

Finally. Lips. I had a long old discussion with myself about the best product however clearly wasted my time as I couldn’t come to a conclusion so had to put two on. On the upside, one is a gloss and one is a lipstick so that’s okay, right?! There is my beloved Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon – see the review in more detail here in Orange Punch. This is really hydrating, long lasting, strong lip crayon that gives a beautiful glow and gloss to your lips and fits with nearly all make up styles. Secondly I have Barry M’s LP165, this applies and glides very easily and looks slightly glossy on your lips. It looks lovely with one layer and stays on for quite a while, although is prone to disappearing off your lips and decorating your sandwiches and cup rims to another level, it does often need a new application. However purely because of it’s appearance and stunning colour this has to be one of my drug store faves!

And that’s just about it! If you’re looking for an opinion of drug store make up brushes BUY GOSH! Honestly no word of a lie they rival my MAC brushes. Just saying.

Hope you enjoyed this, it was especially for girls like myself who have to pay all the household costs out themselves with not much left to treat yourself with at the end of it all. Unless you class the more expensive version of your supermarkets own brand as a treat, in which case, go wild! (don’t worry you’re not on your own, I have a party when I see the reduced section hoarding a bunch of expensive stuff for a quarter of the price, it instantly becomes a case of – so how much space do I have left in my freezer? Never mind I’ll cram it in some how!)

Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon Review

wpid-20141104_224634-1.jpg

Helloooooooo!

Recently I felt a little deprived of a make up shop so I popped into my local Boots store and came across these little beauties (there was a 5th colour but it wasn’t something I’d wear so I settled for the other four instead…). These are absolutely gorgeous! From left to right we have ‘Peach On the beach’, ‘Plum Russian’, ‘Red Sunrise’ and ‘Orange Punch’. The lovely thing about  all of these colours is that each one is totally in season and really emphasise your lips. They’re the thickness of a lipstick with the appearance of a lip gloss.

wpid-20141106_075136.jpg
The colours as above are from left to right

These lip crayons are just amazing, the colour is the kind which you can build up so you can have a very light, transparent colour, or with a few more layers have a colour with much more depth and strength. So you can actually get quite a few different shades out of one crayon. They have a well sharpened point on them also, which makes the definition of your lips much better and easier to achieve, I usually apply it like a lip liner first then fill in.
On top of that they stay on for AGES, I usually put mine on around 8am before work and it’s still going strong around 3pm, even after I’ve had my breakfast, lunch and countless cups of coffee. Then to add another wow factor, they have worked wonders for my dry lips, which I honestly wasn’t expecting to happen, as I saw these as more of a glossy crayon, that moisturising lip crayon, but really, who can argue!

To be brutally honest with you I have zero issues with these I find them one of the best buys I’ve ever come across in a drug store, I absolutely love them! They are £7.99 each but NEWS, Boots are doing a 3 for 2 offer on them so get yourself there! I recommend these to every single person that walks in my path, they’re phenomenal. I’ve been very impressed with a lot of Bourjois’ new products lately to say I wasn’t all thumbs up about their lipstick on my previous review. Oh how the tables have turned!

I hope this was of some help and inspiration to you, especially with the festive season coming up, present buying galore!

(I just painted my nails and I’m doing a terrible job of letting them dry. Why does it take so long?! Does anyone else have this issue or am I just the most impatient human on the planet…?)

No7 Rapid Spot Rescue review

wpid-20141019_120651.jpg

We all have spots, imperfections, blemishes, redness and uneven tones on our skin, no one is perfect and no one has completely clear skin. Sometimes, though, we wish we did have perfectly clear skin. So when those spots and imperfections make an appearance, they’re not planning on leaving all too soon which is the most annoying thing, which is why it’s really handy to have a reliable serum to help them on their way.

I first bought this serum about 3 years ago, it’s on it’s last legs but that’s a whole load of time it’s lasted me, it cost me about £12 from Boots. The formula is quite thick and clear. Once you apply it you know it’s hit the right place, as it does sting quite a bit, it’s a weirdly nice kinda sting though. I just pat it onto the area until any excess has gone. I find it tends to work best on broken skin (so to put it bluntly once you’ve had a whole bunch of fun popping your spot). Redness clears incredibly quickly and the swelling of the area reduces as quick too. The spot itself I find tends to have gone with a couple of days of use, usually once in the morning before make up and once on a night before bed really works for me.

I love this stuff and I’ll be honest, I literally have nothing bad to say about it at all. It’s an absolute must for your beauty&skincare cupboard and is no where near as expensive as some of the higher end brands which in my opinion will either do exactly the same or not work as well. It’s lasted me ages and I’m not one to be blessed with good skin, I have larger pores here and there, my T-Zone gets really oily, I get trapped oil in my skin, I get redness, I get black heads and I certainly get spots WE ALL DO. Your skin is not something to be ashamed of, it doesn’t define you, it doesn’t make you who you are and it doesn’t make you a better or worse person. Honestly, no body, absolutely no body has perfect skin and no body is clear of all of the above, so if someone wearing more make up than your local drug store decides to look at you or treat you differently because you might have a couple of spots here and there or you might have a few patches of uneven skin tone or redness, let them, but see their reaction when you tell them to take of the mask they’re hiding behind.

Be proud of your skin, one of the only times it’s nice to hear this: we’re all the same 🙂.

Fall Haul!

wpid-20141004_182133-1.jpg

Hello there!

It’s so cold outside! I felt like I had woken up in the Arctic this morning, I couldn’t believe it, getting out of bed was virtually impossible! One of the things I love the most about this coldness is that when you do finally drag yourself out of the bed and race to the hot shower, you can almost get back into a walking bed because of how comfortable your clothes are. Woolly, cable knit, thick, snuggly clothes is what fall is all about, which is evidently the route I went down on this very satisfying little haul I took myself on at the weekend. I desperately needed to re-vamp the comfort zone in my wardrobe, so I went out with my heart set on something along those lines and turned up with these!

wpid-20141004_182941.jpg
Thick knitted oversized cardigan – Primark – £16
I LOVE THIS! Primark has always been a guaranteed bargain as it is but this cardigan is SUPER thick wool knit so it really keeps the warmth in, on the picture the sleeves look very short but because its oversized they fall to about 3/4’s of the way down your arm. The pattern is lovely too, it’s not too in your face it’s still quite subtle and doesn’t have that staple christmassy look so you can wear it what ever time of year if its cold.

wpid-20141004_182843.jpg
High neck aztec detail cami top – H&M – £7.99
This is a really pretty top and could be dressed up or down in spring, summer, fall or winter. The material is super soft but slightly see through so it’s best with a little white cami underneath. It has a beautiful mesh aztec print around the chest area and frill detail around the neck line, with a curved front and straight back. I think this top is so beautiful and looks stunning with a dark blazer and skinny jeans or tucked into a high waisted skirt/trousers with a long jumper/cardigan. You could even wear this for work. I just love it.

wpid-20141004_183250.jpg
Mink grey woolly inside worker boots – H&M – £24.99
Now, I’m a rather large fan of the worker/biker/military boot, but these are just amazing especially for £24.99. The sole of the boot is ridiculously sturdy and thick and they’re fitted perfectly to your foot, so they’re very comfortable. Not to mention the cream woolly inside of the boot for added padding and comfort. They will wear with almost anything and fit tightly round your ankle so I don’t tie the laces, I prefer them looking that way. They have a ‘Timberlandy’ look to them which always wins me over as it is.

wpid-20141004_182715.jpg
Woolly cable knit cream cardigan – Primark – £12
This is so thick and snuggly and comfy and warm and lovely. All the best things in the world. The cardigan wraps itself so tightly around you it’s like you’re being hugged by a wool monster. Really, there’s not much more to say. That cannot be argued with in this kind of weather. It’s a must. For only £12 too!

wpid-20141004_183133.jpg
Pink gold stud and diamond necklace – H&M – £6.99
When I saw this I couldn’t get over the colour and the fact that it would literally go with 1) everything I just bought 2) more a less anything else fall shades related. So it’s a win win situation really. I love the stud vs large diamond detail on it and the fact that they are not an ‘in your face’ kind of size they’re just a lovely noticeable, yet edgy enhancement to what you’re wearing. Personally I think the colour and detail fits in perfect with the season, I couldn’t see it working very well in the summer as much as fall and winter. It’s a really pretty but rough looking piece of jewellery, great for adding a bit of umph to your outfit.

wpid-20141004_182757.jpg
Thick cable knit high waisted skirt – Primark – £8
How cute is this!!!!! This skirt with some tights, knee high brown leather boots, little top and a burgundy cardigan, yippeeeee, sounds like a cold weather wearer to me! I love this skirt so much because it’s got hints of greys in it here and there so it’s not so BAM – LOOK AT HOw WHITE MY SKIRT IS! kind of colour, which means it works really nicely with a range of colours and isn’t limited to certain outfits. I think it’s perfect for looking cute and girly in the chill yet still looking all snug and wrapped up. I can’t wait to wear this skirt, it’ll be fab for dressing it up or down too!

So here’s my little fall haul blog, I’ve really enjoyed writing this one as these kind of clothes are right up my street and I’ve been desperate to grab myself some seasonal snugs. Hope you enjoyed it guys, let me know if there’s anything on here that you liked? Or maybe even own yourself?
HAPPY FRIDAY!

Seasonal Shoes

wpid-20141002_194638_lls.jpgwpid-20141004_183250.jpg

Hey there my lovelies,

The cold has started to come in now, along with the darker evenings and along with cold weather comes snugglier clothes and bigger, thicker shoes to keep your feet nice and warm. Now personally I’m a HUGE fan of boots, it makes me sad that they’re basically abandoned in the summer, but to wear them would mean your feet turning into a sweaty mush and really, who wants that? Who around you even wants that?! Yikes. Anyway less of the talk about smelly feet and onto some of my favourite seasonal shoes!

First and foremost as I adore these shoes, my heeled military boots. I got these in the sale at USC last year for half price YAY! The original price is £80, often unless I’m feeling famous I don’t spend that much on a pair of shoes but even if they weren’t in the sale they’re worth every penny of the full price. The heel is strong, thick, sturdy wood and they’re tailored incredibly well to fit your feet. You don’t necessarily need to tie the laces (I prefer untied), as they’re quite tight around the ankle anyway, so great support. They look amazing with some grey/khaki skinny jeans, a dark blazer and cream/white top. These are my absolute faves.

Above those are my Rocket Dog biker boots. I love the colour of these, you can wear them with literally anything, a skater dress, leggings, skinny jeans, boot cut jeans, you name it, they look good, besides their edginess, it’s the main reason I love them so much. I got these from amazon’s outlet store for about £35, however I do believe the standard retail price is around £70-£75. I’ll be honest I wouldn’t pay the normal price for them, purely because the soles cracked after having them for only 3 months, which for me when you’re paying that amount is unacceptable; especially when they’re boots for the chillier weather, you don’t want cold coming in from the bottom! The rim at the top is thick so they sit comfortably tightly around your calf and they’re ridiculously comfortable too.

Next is my black biker ankle boots. They have some slight wear and tear detail around the heel and toes of the boots which along with the worn zip and buckle detail gives these boots a rugged, worn-out look. It looks fab when you’re going for the military/studded appearance. They’re very tight fitting and very comfortable too, but I’ll give warning to anyone with a slightly larger heel, don’t get too excited about these shoes unless you’re willing to go through several painful arguments with these shoes. Like many River Island and Rocket Dog boots (not the ones above though I must say), they’re designed for pixie heels, so if you don’t have a heel the width of 2 fingers/aren’t willing to stretch your boots to fit your heel, don’t go near them.

On a more skirty/dressy wrapped up look, my little beige ballets from George are fab. They look gorgeous with all the staple fall colours and the golden stud and buckle detail makes them look a little bit more dressed up, so they can be worn for normal or formal do’s. I have a super cute cable knit cream skirt from Primark which will feature in my Fall Haul blog later this week, but these shoes just work an absolute treat with this skirt and a cardigan. I wouldn’t wear them too much as you’re toes might fall off, especially closer to winter too!

Finally, another item which will feature in my Fall Haul blog is my GORGEOUS new shoes from H&M’s ‘Divided’ Range, which I bought last weekend. They have a fluffy cream inside (insta-win) and are also really well fitted to your feet, so are incredibly comfortable, great for a long day out shopping/moping around with your friends. They’re really sturdy shoes and the material on them is very thick and strong, including a ridiculously sturdy sole which makes me very happy when the weather is getting this cold and the floor is not so easy to walk on any more. I love wearing these with my big fairisle cardigan, leggings or dark skinny jeans and a t-shirt, they look fab with some white/cream leg warmers too!

So there’s my picks of the season out of my shoe box, I hope these were of some inspiration to you guys, what do you like to wear in this kind of chilly weather? Let me know in the comments below, let me know if you liked it too!
