MAC Viva Glam 2 review

Hey Lovelies!

I recently had a bit of a splurge at the MAC store and ended up with a couple of new lipsticks to go with it. My bad. I specifically picked from the Viva Glam range, the colours are beautiful, very unique and are really really pigmented. I did a review on the other Viva Glam lipstick I bought, which you can have a nosey at here. You’ll notice as before, they hardly went all out with the names of the products, which I’m not too excited about, as MAC usually have some pretty awesome names for their lippy’s but hey ho I guess.

Onto the actual product! This shade is such a pretty and interesting nude shade. It’s definitely not like any I’ve ever come across before. As I mentioned previously, this range is almost matte. They are at first glance but at different angles, this cheeky shimmer pops out and gives your lips so much more dimension and body. It’s very clever, must say!
Colours wise, well, there’s hints of nude beige, pale pink and a very very slight hint of metallic lilac, which I believe is what gives the light shimmer to it. The swatches are below…

As you can see in the shade it’s quite dark, almost a deep nude/pink. Then more towards the light it’s got a light shimmer of lilac/pink-ness. It’s a very interchangeable shade, you can wear it with a lot of different looks, the pinks and nudes make it very adaptable. This lipstick is also super pigmented, so it applies very smoothly and although it sits quite thick on your lips, it looks very light weighted. It’s build-able too, so you can wear it quite thin and have a very calm, more nude look or apply it thicker and go with more of a darker, stronger look, which works great with dark eyes.

The only problem I have with this lipstick is it can be quite hard to get used to at first. When I first bought it, I really struggled to put it with quite simple day to day looks because of it’s unusual shade. I also found it difficult to put with really dark eye make up because your lips almost looked a bit dead. So at first sight, this lipstick can be a bit of a weird one. But once I started experimenting and trying it with different looks, clothing, hair do’s and general make up, you start to realise that this is actually an incredibly versatile lipstick.

Out of the two I bought I have to say I do prefer Viva Glam 1, but I thick my adoration for dark reds/purples is just beyond any human explanation, so I will accept the biasedness of this opinion. Although if you’re one for the nude shades, I definitely recommend that you give this one a go and try it out!

I hope you liked this guys, take a second to like or subscribe if you did!

MAC Viva Glam 1 Lipstick – Review

wpid-20141230_141936.jpg

Heyeyeyeyey!

Hope you guys new years have set off positively, mine has been interesting. Yes already. The wonders of the world I live in. I shall explain all on #SundayFundayCatchUp tomorrow…

SO I wanted to do a review on this MAC lipstick I bought the other day (with the vouchers I had in the back of my purse from last Christmas which I had forgotten about. MWHAHAHAHAHA!), when I popped out to the shops with my mamma. I originally went to get Ruby Woo & Kinda Sexy, neither of which they had in stock. An impossible sin I know. So I ended up with this one and another, which the review is coming soooooooon.

One down side is that their marketing team either had a day off or had a total brain fart on the day they were labelling the Viva Glam collection. The names Viva Glam 1, Viva Glam 2 etc is not exactly up to MAC’s normal standards of product naming abilities. But hey ho, everyone needs a day off right?! But otherwise, all is well on the horizon…

The swatch is below:

When I was in the shop I was asking one of the girls there for a hand choosing a really gorgeous deep red colour. She immediately picked out this one and described it the only way I think it can be: A Super Vampy Red. Honestly when I put it on and look at the lipstick I’m like lost for any form of descriptive words other than ‘vampy’.But it really is. It’s a very deep, thick dark red, with some slightly browny purple undertones, which really accentuates your lips making them look as full bodied as ever. It’s matte, sort of. It’s matte but with a slight sheen to it, so it’s almost matte, which soundsΒ a bit odd. Is that odd? It’s a bit odd. But awesome!

Due to it’s matteness (sort of matteness), it can tend to dry out your lips a little bit. So after you’ve worn it, put a good layer of lip treatment on it, whether it’s a balm or Vaseline or whatever takes your fancy. If you wear matte a lot, keep your lips moisturised, matte lipstick likes to think it’s a dehydrated fish, so balm up!

This specific shade looks beautiful with lots of dark eye shadow tones and a nude/beige blush. Or on a more day to day look, with thick winged eye liner and black liner on your water line, keeping it simple but gorgeous.

Regardless of your hair colour, how pale or dark your skin is, your eye colour, clothing style that day, this lipstick will work. Trust me. It’s so adaptable and works all round. It may be dark, and more for what some may wear on an evening when you’re getting all dolled up, but personally I love shades like this and wear them whenever I can, so go for it, be a bit more daring and whack it on for the day. You’ll turn heads I promise!

Seriously go out and buy yourself some. This is my favourite lipstick I’ve ever owned hands down.

Hope you liked this review guys, let me know what you think!
