My Night Time Skin Care Routine

wpid-20141230_142539-1.jpg

Aloha!

So today I wanted to share with you my updated night time skin care routine. I will be doing a morning skin care routine later in the week so I can compare the difference in the two and why it’s important to use different products at different times.

My night time skin care routine is pretty simple and to make it even better, all products are drug store products and mostly relatively cheap too! Yay!

I always start with make up wipes, duh, to remove all of the make up from my face (I love simple cleansing wipes they’re so gentle on your skin). Making sure I get right up to my hair line, neck, under my jaw line and around near my ears. But make up wipes will only remove about 80% of your make up, they don’t do the whole job. I also use No7’s eye make up remover, just taking two cotton pads on leaving them over my lashes whilst I remove the rest of my make up, this way it wipes my eye liner & mascara off super easy! So I make sure I finish it off by cleansing my skin thoroughly to get rid of the excess make up, then wiping with a face towel. As you all probably know, I love my Cetaphil, it’s soap free so does no moisture draining damage to your skin and is super gentle on all skin types. Using a separate towel keeps germs to a minimum, this way you’re not spreading germs from the rest of your body and/or your hands all over your face.

Then I cleanse again. This time massaging my face with my hands and using my facial massager to help bring the blood and lymph to the surface of my skin. By doing this you’re skin is aided in quicker repair, looks healthier, aids in control of redness and blemishes and helps your skin look fresher and more supple. Washing off again with my sponges and wiping with my face towel. Did I mention I wash with cold water on a night? This helps keep your skin nice and taut.
*make sure you keep your sponges clean or they will just spread germs! I put mine in boiling soapy water and it works a treat!*

I finish off with my T-zone cream from No7, this is great as my skin does get really quite oily around my t-zone, but this product keeps the oiliness in check with out drying out or damaging my skin. It also helps to keep redness and blemishes away and really reduces large pores. My skin actually feels softer and more moisturised after regular use. And if I have any spots that need worrying about, out comes my No7 Spot Rescue. I’ve done a review blog about the Spot Rescue Gel which you can check out here. This stuff is amazing, it gets rid of even the worst spots in a maximum of 2 days, leaves no dryness or flakiness at all! One dab of this on your spots and they don’t stand a chance!

I don’t moisturise the rest of my face on a night, as personally too much moisturiser on my skin tends to cause me to break out. Especially when you’re face is squashed against a pillow on a night and disallowed air for your skin to breath whilst it sweats away and gathers dirt. Yum! All the more reason to regularly change your bed sheets and keep your hair out of your face on a night. I always tie mine back. It has hugely reduced me breaking out on my forehead and getting spots on parts of my neck.

I hope you all enjoyed this blog! Like below if you did!

NOTD: Christmas Glistening Snow in the Evening

wpid-20141221_194141.jpg

Hey Guys – it’s Christmas in 2 days :O

This nail design is ridiculously easy but looks so SO SO beautiful. It’s like glistening snow in the evening. Gorgeous! I simply used 3 nail shades on top of my base and top coat, all of which are drug store products. Win!

I used:

  • OPI Base & Top Coat
  • Barry M Blueberry
  • No7 In The Stars
  • Barry M Diamond Silver Glitter

After my base coat I applied 3 thin layers of Blueberry. It’s one from the ‘Gelly Hi-Shine’ range, so it’s quite thin initially, but gives a great finish!

Once they are completely dry, I applied 1 layer of In The Stars – which is a lovely shimmery/sparkly clear coat, so it just adds a bit of extra twinkle to the look. Then finished it with one layer of Diamond Silver Glitter. Once completely dry, add your top coat.

This is such a simple easy tutorial and finishes with such a beautiful, wintry look. Although you could definitely wear this for an occasional look.

Let me know if you like this or give it a try! (Sorry about the edges – I forgot to clean them up!)

Merry Christmas you beauties!

My Christmas Nail Polish Line-Up!

wpid-20141218_201157_richtonehdr.jpg

Hey there my lovelies!

I was looking through my nail polish collection trying to figure out what christmassy design to give a go this time, when I figured it’d be really nice to share with you my favourite christmas time polishes. These shades really fit the season in my opinion, I like a range of colours, ones to fit your mood, fit the temperature, fit how close it is to christmas and ones that fit sparkly/non sparkly themes.

I’ve got here a nice range of your staple colours, greens, reds, whites, cold nudes, deep shades and some glittery metallic shades too. So a nice big range of colours, as I said to fit christmas in every respect.

Lets start with sparkle, every one looooves sparkle! I’ve got my two favourite glitter polishes from Barry M the Silver Diamond Glitter and the Yellow Topaz Gold Glitter. Then a fantastic metallic silver also by Barry M, 319 Foil Effect, you literally need one coat of this stuff and you’re good to go! Then my gold metallic shade from No 7 Sunbeam. These go well with nail art designs or just as they are. There’s no time of year more fitting for your gold and silver tones!! Finally in my glitters I’ve got my gorgeous 150 Red Glitter by Barry M – Christmas party ‘o’ clock or what!

Now onto my blues (I love blue in all it’s different shades of blueness). I tend to find the closer it gets to christmas the more suited a darker blue is as opposed to the lighter shades. But everyone’s different. I love these two for this time of year: No 7’s Stonewash and OPI Nicole’s Listen To Your Momager! The No 7 shade is such a beautiful subtle blue shade which is quite a cold, misty type shade. It looks lovely against white/cream clothes. Then the OPI shade is just a perfect midnight shade. Considering the fact that it’s basically dark all day and the skies are so clear at night during this time of year, it looks like you’re wearing a bit of night on your nails. Super cute!

Finally, on to my lighter shades – and the green one, ha. Mentioning the green one, Essie’s Mojito Madness, this one is great for doing candy cane/christmas tree nail art. Or just plain awesome. It looks epic with some green glitter on top and also looks fab in matte. It’s very versatile and very fitting for the time of year.  The white OPI Nicole It’s All About The Glam is BEAUTIFUL for a snowy, winter wonderland nail look. It’s got a slight shimmer to it, honestly you can’t go wrong with this one. It’s also great to wear on top of other white-type shades, although I’d avoid it on pure white shades and stick to creams/ivories/marshmallow shades – it can get a bit in your face.
Finally, last but not least, MY FAVOURITE NAIL VARNISH EVER! It’s a stunning nude pink shade and looks adorable in this season. It fits perfectly with anything and everything you’re wearing, formal or informal, on it’s own or with a glitter polish, honestly, you can’t go wrong. The coldness and softness of this polish just makes it. It’s Nails Inc, George Street – BUY IT!

So I hope you liked this post my loves, I have a very christmassy NOTD coming up on monday so keep tuned for that one if you’re into your nails or if you’re looking for a bit of inspiration for christmas day nail art tips & designs.

No7’s Beautiful Skin Blemish Defence Serum Review

wpid-20141216_205734_richtonehdr-1.jpg

Well hello there my darlings!!

I purchased this a little while back and I seriously questioned why I hadn’t done a review on it already. It’s one of those products you just NEED to get off your chest.

I suffer from quite strongly blemished skin, mainly because I had pretty bad acne when I was younger and your skin does become a concealer drainer if you don’t do anything about it. To make that worse, good concealer isn’t cheap! I was in search of a serum to help reduce redness and blemishes so that on days when I wanted to give the face a break from the mass of make up, it wouldn’t be such a concious thing to do.

I had done a bit of research and also tried out a highly recommended one by MAC – Prep + Prime Natural Radiance. This product is a primer which has the same effects as a blemish reducing serum. Don’t get me wrong this product was amazing, but it’s £29.50 a go and I ain’t no millionaire!! I needed a drug store duplicate that would cost less, last as long and work just as well…
Introducing No 7’s Beautiful Skin Blemish Defence Serum (and the angels sing)
This little beauty is only £16 and get this, it’s lasted me even longer than the MAC primer! This product is phenomenal, after a week of using it I noticed a huge difference in my skin. It was more evenly toned, brighter, tighter and appeared much more healthier. After continuous use of this product my skin looks so much more radiant and even, I love it!

I’m a big supporter of No 7’s skin care range any way, they have never EVER let me down. I have purchased so many of their products and you would think that there would definitely be one here or there that was a bit hmmm. But nope, not yet!

I swear by this stuff, you can’t go wrong with it. It took me a long time to find a blemish reducing serum as my blemishes were quite prominent. However the time waiting paid off.

I would absolutely recommend this to anyone with uneven skin tone, blemishes/redness and overly oily skin. I have nothing bad to say about it and that seriously doesn’t often happen with me. I always find something to complain about, even if I have to go digging for it!

Let me know what you think, have you tried this or No 7 products?

P.s. it’s 8 days ’til Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 eeek, excited!

My Drugstore Makeup

wpid-20141113_185945_lls-1.jpg

Hello lovelies!

Today I’m going to do my drugstore make up face essentials (i.e. what I carry round in my make up back for touch ups!) I love every single one of these products and the reason being is that they are about half the price yet equal quality to high end products, for brands like MAC, NARS and Bare Minerals.

Firstly I have to mention the concealer I use which I STUPIDLY ran out of and binned before I took this photo (and sorry but there’s no way you’re going to get me trailing through any bins for that girl!), the one I use is Maybelline’s Pure Mineral Concealer. It doesn’t wipe off or get thinner as the day goes on, it just stays the same. As you put it on it’s a good strong coverage and I know you will understand what I mean by that it doesn’t apply a shade darker than stated on the tube when you buy it, like some cheaper concealers can do. It’s exactly the shade you expect and it works to a much higher standard than you would expect for something affordably priced from your local drug store.

Following that is the No7 Stay Perfect foundation, this has beautiful coverage and gives that dewy finish that looks so natural, I actually prefer this without any powder because it just gives the appearance of flawless natural skin.

I apply a thin layer of GOSH’s ‘Precious bronzer pearls’ to under my cheek bones, I say a thin layer because this particular bronzer has a slight shimmer to it so you don’t want to apply too much or you’ll look like your inner greek goddess statue is coming out.

Following my bronzer I apply Maybelline’s ‘Expert Wear’ compact blush. I really like this, because like most Maybelline products it doesn’t just stay there for a couple of hours before it smudges and looks like you’ve left your make up on from the night before. It sticks around for a good 7-8 hours. I love Maybelline, what can I say.

So for my eyes, yes I’m about to preach some more about Maybelline so just bare with if you’re having issues, I use Maybelline’s Rocket Volum’ Mascara, with their ‘Eyestudio Drama Gel Liner’, nice and thinly above my upper lash line and then again Maybelline’s Master Drama Khol Liner. All of the above stay on all day for a minimum of 12 hours, minus the khol liner, that’s about 5 hours on one layer, call me a liar if you like but you wont when you’ve tried it! Seriously, I have never and will never buy high end eye make up products when you have Maybelline at such an affordable price (maybe on eye-shadows – but nothing else!) Finally to finish with my eyes I use my GOSH palette, to be honest, I have probably bought about 7/8 of their eye-shadow palettes and each one has been as good as the last. The stay on strong for about 8 hours minimum and blend BEAUTIFULLY! Out of the one above I like to put on the peach base and blend the mild brown shade from the outer corners inwards, very pretty and very subtle.

Finally. Lips. I had a long old discussion with myself about the best product however clearly wasted my time as I couldn’t come to a conclusion so had to put two on. On the upside, one is a gloss and one is a lipstick so that’s okay, right?! There is my beloved Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon – see the review in more detail here in Orange Punch. This is really hydrating, long lasting, strong lip crayon that gives a beautiful glow and gloss to your lips and fits with nearly all make up styles. Secondly I have Barry M’s LP165, this applies and glides very easily and looks slightly glossy on your lips. It looks lovely with one layer and stays on for quite a while, although is prone to disappearing off your lips and decorating your sandwiches and cup rims to another level, it does often need a new application. However purely because of it’s appearance and stunning colour this has to be one of my drug store faves!

And that’s just about it! If you’re looking for an opinion of drug store make up brushes BUY GOSH! Honestly no word of a lie they rival my MAC brushes. Just saying.

Hope you enjoyed this, it was especially for girls like myself who have to pay all the household costs out themselves with not much left to treat yourself with at the end of it all. Unless you class the more expensive version of your supermarkets own brand as a treat, in which case, go wild! (don’t worry you’re not on your own, I have a party when I see the reduced section hoarding a bunch of expensive stuff for a quarter of the price, it instantly becomes a case of – so how much space do I have left in my freezer? Never mind I’ll cram it in some how!)

October Faves

wpid-20141113_185045-1.jpg

Hey Ladies!

My October Faves are here, FINALLY! I know it’s late and for that I do apologise! I’ve had a lot going on lately, but I’m going to start doing a SundayFundayUpdate, which is just going to be a general update of my recent goings on and ridiculousness, so all will be revealed soon enough 🙂 Anyway, on with my faves from the past month!

First I’m going to start off with my candle, I seriously can’t stop burning this it’s so gorgeous! It’s called Bermuda Beach, it’s like the scent of a fresh fruit salad with a strong grapefruity base. It’s beautiful. I love to have this on in the bath, it’s not as strong as you may think with is why it’s such a beautiful smell whilst you’re relaxing.

Also I have the Vanilla Spice shower gel from The Body Shop, oh how I love the body shop anyway, regardless of their seasonal sensations. I have no idea how anyone could resist this, I love to have this in the shower these days the scent fits perfectly with the season and the upcoming festivities, I LOVE IT!

I can’t keep away from my St Ives Apricot face scrub either! It was only about £3 from Boots, but it leaves your face super smooth and feeling and smelling fresh as ever. I’ve used this stuff for such a long time and couldn’t believe I hadn’t included it in one of my favourites already, it’s a drug store bargain. It definitely puts other more expensive brands of face exfoliator up for competition.

wpid-20141113_185228.jpg
These are my two favourite colours lately (this took a hella long time to choose!) There’s the white thick glitter polish from Barry M which is like covering your nails with a layer of snow – how perfect is that right now! And Nails Inc’s Mink grey/brown. These shades scream fall/winter in your face and considering how freezing it is outside, reflecting winter in your clothing, makeup and nails wouldn’t surprise anyone right now!

My current favourite lip colour is a frosty pink from No7 called Water lilly
wpid-20141113_185308.jpg
It’s such a beautiful colour and is quite a frosty colour, so for this time of year is so lovely. I personally think it looks beautiful with the more simple and bare faced look. Considering the time of year its a total winner!

wpid-20141113_185346.jpg
Now I’ve recently just done a post about these bad boys, they are phenomenal, Bourjois Color Boost lip crayons,  but this colour is definitely my favourite, it comes out as this gorgeous maroony purple and you can literally wear it with anything. It compliments even the palest of make up. I love wearing it with some dark eyeliner and big lashes, it looks fab, especially when you don’t focus all too much on the rest of you’re make up, just dark eyes and lips!

And finally the most complimentary perfume for this time of year anyone could ever come across. Ed Hardy’s Hearts and Daggers. It’s got this fragrant,  lovely warming, musky scent with hints of fruitiness is perfect. For me it addresses all of the scents of fall in one quick spray. You can’t fault this perfume and it lasts forever. (also just to add to it’s awesomeness it comes with a tiny spray to keep in your bag! WIN!)

So there is my October Faves! I had a big old variety of faves this month so I hope some were shared or have given you some inspiration! Let me know in the comments 🙂

NOTD: halloween candy corn nails!

wpid-20141012_172833.jpg

Hey there guys,

As I mentioned in my previous NOTD, my little halloween nail tutorial was coming up. I like to keep halloween nails nice and simple I think too much nail art takes away the awesomeness of halloween spookyness. These are super easy and suitable with any outfit too! All you need is:

wpid-20141012_172131.jpg
A bright orange, a strong bright yellow, white and a thick glitter polish (mine has a hint of white to it) and obviously your base and top coat.
Don’t forget a wedge make up sponge.

Firstly paint all of your nails except your two middle ones with your orange, two layers should be fine. Leave them to dry whilst you focus on the design for your two middle fingers.

Paint your two middle fingers white, just one layer will do, it’s fine if it looks a bit washed out because you’re going to be using the sponge to create the ombre effect over the top anyway. On your sponge layer the colours of a candy corn, white at the top, orange in the middle and yellow at the bottom and dab onto your nail to create the ombre effect. You’ll probably need to do this twice to define the colours. Once they are dry, apply a coat of the white glitter to reduce the harshness and add a bit of shimmer to them too.

Then you’re done!! A really easy, really cute and girly halloween nail design that goes with any outfit!

Hope you liked it and have a fantastic Halloween evening. Trick or treat (no one ever tricks. Boring. You watch what’s going to happen when someone knocks on my door now, I’ll regret saying this and end up covered in beans or something -_-)

Enjoy!
